From everything I've ever read, it's always best to format the SDHC card
in whatever camera or device it will be used in. Also, there might be a time
when you need to format a card and don't have a computer nearby.
I tried finding a way to format the SDHC card in the CGO3 camera but
could find no option to do so in the ST10+ menus.
I was playing around with the CGO3 app this evening and discovered
that it can be done through the app.
Just connect to the CGO3 with your phone or tablet, start the app,
click on the settings button in the lower right corner and there will be
an option to format the SDHC card in the menu.

Hi, thanks for this info. Is there any way to download the files (videos) from the CG03 in the same manner? I am new to this, so excuse me if this is a dumb question.

It's not a dumb question at all.

You can download video files over WiFi.
I haven't been able to do it yet with my iPhone 5S or my iPad Air 2, but I'm working on it.

First of all, your laptop or desktop computer MUST support 802.11a or ac (5.8GHz).
If it only supports 802.11b/g/n, it's 2.4GHz only and you'll need an adapter.
You can find out if it does by checking the wifi specs on your computer.
Another way is to turn on your quad, look for new networks and check to see
if it can find the camera. For example, my camera shows up as "CGO3_610A42".
If your computer does not support 802.11ac, you can buy a USB adapter that
will allow it to. You can get a tiny one that looks like the type for wireless keyboards
or you can buy something like I got. The reason I got the one I did was so that I can
mount it remotely and also attach high gain antennas to it's CMA connectors. This
allows me to set up shots with much better size and clarity using my laptop in
the field. This is the one I purchased:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_re=Rosewill_adapter-_-33-166-046-_-Product

Once you are connected to the camera via wifi, type "http://192.168.42.1" into your
web browser. You should see a screen like this:

    Download Sceen 1.jpg

"100MEDIA" is the directory where your camera stores the video files. Click on that.
You will now see a screen like this:

    Download Sceen 2.jpg

"YUN00001.MP4" is a video file. Right-click on the file and a box will pop up, giving
you choices. Click on "Save target as.." and then choose where you want to store it.

    Download Sceen 3.jpg

That's it! If you have any questions or need clarification, just ask. :)

In fact, I think I'm going to make this into a separate post
so that it's easier for people to find.

I have the Q500 4K and would like to format my card using the controller and not my app on my smart phone. I assume this cannot be accomplished using the controller.

Nope. That's why I tried to find another way to do it. You can always format it
with your computer. This is just a way to do it without having to remove it.

This is a great help. Because living in Europe none of my appliances (2 smartphones, tablet, laptop, webbook, desktop) works with 802.11 ac. So I bought an 802.11ac adapter. This adapter (TP-Link AC600) sees the CGO3 instantly. Is there a way to get the CGO3-app working on Windows or has anybody found a way to get an 802.11ac adapter working on android? I tried asking the manufacturer but no answer as of yet.

Hi Nettle, what if there is data already on the card. Will it still reformat it...?
    Thanks BillW

I haven't tried it yet. I'm sure that you'd have to use some type of Android emulator.
I'll put this on my project list and try it out if someone doesn't beat me to it.

The Android device would need a USB port or USB port adapter and would also
need the appropriate drivers. Technically, it's possible, but getting the drivers
would be the difficult part. I don't work with Android hardware much anymore,
so maybe someone else can take up this challenge???:)

It sure will. And, as you know, that data will be gone after that.
I always copy my SD card contents into a folder on my computer
before formatting. It may come in handy at some point.

I never paid attention during first fights... was to worried about safety and keeping the bird in the sky. So I only videoed in segments anyway... then I got comfortable and just started videoing right at take off and then shutting off as I landed.... Then I seen the 5 minute segments... I called Horizon... and the tech says... nope shouldn't do that... but in his defense... I am not sure I mentioned it was the cgo3 camera on the chroma... but you have settled my nerves with your back up... he also recommended the reformat of the card... which I did... then still 5 minute vids ... but they tie together great in editing.. no drops between files so I am good... Thanks again for your time you have taken to give me some re assurance. you da man
