you guys!!! Thanks for all your advice - it totally worked like a charm. I took it to a large open field like advised and we hand calibrated it without the camera and props on. Angle mode. BEST. FLIGHT. EVER. I was able to video record at height, and also, learned from a Youtube video how to grab it out of the air and turn the props off for a "hand landing" rather than actually setting it on the ground.

So..... SUCCESS!! I feel so awesome right now, and the video quality is amazing! Thank you for all of your help - it made a difference, I promise you. Im glad I found this forum, and now --- I think I need to find a flying club, and also get licensed. hahaha. :p

Pressing calibrate for the compass when in the GUI just brings up the instructions for how to do it outdoors. There is no shortcut for this

As far as the neck strap goes you can put a small zip tie through the chrome hook on the ST10+ and the black neck strap and it won't every come off. I've also seen other mods where someone has put a small piece of metal and a small screw/nut to keep in it place also.
Glad you got things going better.
    Happy flying!
    :)

"Hand Landing"? I think I'd rather be a 19 year old soldier in a war zone again. I'm not brave enough to try a hand landing...

    P.S. Welcome aboard

I hand land mine a lot! When flying in areas with high grass or gusty wind conditions. It saves a lot of props!

Does anyone have a video showing a hand landing? I guess the trick is getting the quad down to eye level and put it in hover, set the controller down and grab the quad with both hands?

Luckily, everywhere I've flown my Yuneec, I don't have tall grass to contend with and ground landings work well for me. But I'm a clutz with MS and the hand landing method might be worse than setting it down in tall grass.

Hover at eye level, hold landing gear with one hand, kill engines. Easy peasy!

This right here. I probably went through at least 8 props, so once I got the flight right, I was afraid I'd lose my last set of props. I only hand-land now. PROP SAVER, for sure.

    That. Exactly that! :D

I had the same problem. I've been flying the Q500 for a while, but today it went crazy and crashed twice. The first time it lifted off and quickly flew across the field and ran into a tree breaking three blades. The second time just after liftoff it started coming towards me and ran into my truck breaking 3 blades again. I calibrated everything. I took off in angle mode. I tried to kill it with the switch before it hit, but it was too late. I've got a call into Yuneec to find out what could be the problem. Just a couple of hours before I was flying without issues. This was probably my 30th to 35th flight.

Something similar happened to me yesterday as soon as I took off it went foward into a nose dive and broke 2 props, then I realized I took off on turtle speed and the wind took it, make sure its on rabbit when you take off.

Not to be obtuse but the neck straps are 8 dollars on eBay. Quick fix there.

I've done this a couple of times, it is NOT safe, and I don't recommend it but it's possible.

The wind was maybe 1 kt so that wasn't an issue. I called Yuneec and the guy seemed to know what the problem was. I've already shipped it back to them.

He didn't say and I didn't think to ask. He just said it would take 7 days to fix and get it returned to me.
