Anyone have any favorite Video Editing software that isn't to hard to use and that you can add music to the video.

Both Mac and Windows come with free software that'll do just that. I personally feel iMovie is way better that Microsoft Movie Maker, but you are limited to the Operating system you use. I personally use Final Cut Pro for Mac and also enjoy Adobe Premiere Pro (Mac and Windows) which are more the industry and pricey standards with steep learning curves.

All them will let you edit clips, add music, and basic transitions. You'll want the pro apps to do things such as color grading and barrel distortion correction.

I just found 'my' movie maker.. had it all the time!
    Windows movie maker...
now I just have to take the time to learn it..

btw.. what is the 'rule' for using copyrighted music? for 'my' use, it's ok... but for public display it's not? I'd imagine for a profit venture, then I'd need to get permission, give royalties.. etc.

Any viewing of your video with music, outside your home or inside with non-residents, is considered a public viewing and you must have permission from the creator of that music. Don't mess with the RIAA, they have nothing better to do than send takedown notices via their internet bots.

Your best bet is to get a single use or royalty free track included in your software or from sites like www.premiumbeat.com that charge you a variable fee depending on what the track is being used for and how much exclusivity you want.
