How long did you wait for the GPS to connect before you tried to start the drone? I wait till the Camera connects before I try to start the motors.

I waited a long time and nothing happened so maybe I need to calibrate the drone again

Ok yes do a rebind to the drone and camera then go out to a clear spot with no buildings or anything to cause interference and recalibrate the compass and accelerometer again. Let me know what you get after doing all of this?

There is a small battery on the GPS unit. It can stay charged for a few months if fully charged to begin with, but that is not usually the case. The battery is not bad, it is just dead, and will probably have to recharge. It only charges from the flight battery, and only charges when the drone is on. But it takes a loooooong time to charge. From dead to full charge is 72 hours. That's a whole lot of hours.
Many opt to replace the battery instead of recharging.
Note: The GPS requires 1.4V to work at all. It is typical to see units operating normally at around 1.5 v.

This is where the battery is located on the GPS board, and a screenshot of the battery number if you want to order one:

You said the Q500 GPS battery only recharges when the drone is "ON". Does this mean that if the Q500 is not actually flying that it can just be turned "ON" and left sitting on my workshop floor and be charging the GPS battery as long as the main battery is supplying power to the system?

Yes. It does not even need to be bound to the controller. Just powered up.

I have had my Q500 4K for about 6 years now and it sits in the case all winter, not being used, and I have never had a problem with the GPS battery going dead....Just saying....
